Truity Partners (fka Baker Tilly Search & Staffing) completes a management buyout

Learn how Baker Tilly Capital worked with Baker Tilly U.S. in the sale of Baker Tilly Search & Staffing (BTSS) to Truity Partners, owned by the legacy BTSS management team.

Client need

Truity Partners (Truity) is a staffing, recruiting and executive search placement provider for temporary and permanent accounting, finance and tax professionals to U.S. companies. Truity (fka BTSS) was founded in 1995. Since its inception, the company has provided premium recruiting services and cultivated long-standing relationships. The business operates out of five locations, with more than 50 professionals, and served over 400 clients.

Truity’s growth opportunities were becoming limited under the Baker Tilly ownership umbrella. Thus, as Truity focused on achieving the next phase of its growth, the management team identified an opportunity to significantly increase Truity’s total addressable market by separating from Baker Tilly.

Baker Tilly Capital solution

Baker Tilly Capital, LLC (Baker Tilly Capital) initially ran a full sell side process. Given BTSS’ deeply embedded relationship with Baker Tilly and overlapping customers, establishing mutually agreeable non-compete agreements proved to be a complicated task. In light of these complications, Baker Tilly Capital determined the highly talented and growth-focused management team’s best path forward was a management buyout.

Results

The management buyout provides Truity with the ability to incentivize and offer additional opportunities to employees. Corporate independence will allow Truity to continue executing on growth plans and cultivate relationships under the new Truity Partners brand.
