Outsourced accounting services prove to be invaluable to City of Stoughton

Client need

The City of Stoughton engaged Baker Tilly’s outsourced accounting services when their Finance Director resigned and took a job at another municipality. Around the same time, the Deputy Treasurer left and an upcoming audit required time and resources to prepare.

Baker Tilly solution

During this time Baker Tilly was on site a few days a week providing staff support, audit preparation assistance and daily accounting task relief including reviewing journal entries, accounts payable and receivables. When the new Finance Director was hired, Baker Tilly provided information gathered through the interim period to help ease the transition.

Baker Tilly was an excellent resource for us. They were always clear and concise in their communication, willing to work with our schedules and in the times they couldn’t be in the office with us, they reached out directly on urgent matters.
Donna L. Olson, Mayor

Results

The City of Stoughton avoided a gap in accounting services, overwhelming staff’s already heavy workload and gained helpful tools and information, better equipping the incoming Finance Director and insuring a successful transition. Throughout the time spent with the city’s finance team, Baker Tilly was able to identify areas of opportunity and recommend improvements.

Baker Tilly’s support through the transition of leadership was a huge help to our staff. They were always able to point us in the right direction.
Lisa Aide, Deputy Treasurer
