Baker Tilly demonstrates how Oracle Cloud can meet a federal agency's needs

A large federal agency wanted to analyze their current technical landscape aspiring to consolidate systems and reduce costs. Baker Tilly demonstrated Oracle HCM Cloud and how it can meet the client's needs. Read the case study to learn more.

Background

Client is a large federal agency with more than 400,000 employees in 30+ countries around the world.

The business challenge

The client wanted to analyze their current technical landscape with the aspiration to consolidate as many as 450+ systems and applications to reduce costs and ongoing maintenance efforts. During Phase 1 of the project, 150+ systems were evaluated and targeted as a fit for Oracle HCM Cloud functionality. Prior to moving into full implementation of Oracle HCM Cloud, the client wanted to see system demonstrations, prototyping their current state processes to better demonstrate that Oracle Cloud can meet their requirements.

Strategy and solution

Baker Tilly utilized the Phase 1 results to develop a roadmap of HCM modules, prioritizing those with the largest impact, to demonstrate in 10 sprints, one module per sprint. Baker Tilly worked with the business process owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) for each system mapped to the HCM modules to educate them on HCM functionality. We also worked with them to understand the current steps, stakeholders and handoffs involved with their systems in order to incorporate those requirements into the prototype design. The Baker Tilly team identified “Design Patterns” to group like processes and capabilities together for each of the prototypes. The Baker Tilly team configured prototypes to demonstrate capabilities in order for the client leadership team to confirm that HCM will meet their needs. At the end of each prototype, Baker Tilly provided the client with an “implementation plan” for the module that included details and considerations for the full production deployment of that module. At the conclusion of the project, the client had a concrete understanding of the considerations for beginning and executing an implementation of Oracle HCM Cloud.
